British artist M.I.A. returned to the limelight this week, upon releasing her new single titled “Bad Girls.” The single accounts for the initial offering from her forthcoming untitled album. The versatile female musician has long since been recognized for her attention-worthy visuals, as we can now add this clip for “Bad Girls” to the list of intriguing cuts. M.I.A.’s fourth studio album is due out later this year, and you can also expect to see her performing alongside Madonna and Nicki Minaj during Sunday’s Super Bowl halftime show.

Akai debuts its MPC Fly for the iPad 2, combining 16 backlit MPC pads into its built-in iPad 2 case, the MPC Fly is completed with an integrated iOS app that boasts an array of effects, a four-track mixer, sound library, sample editing and an EQ. The yellow 16.4 “Bumblebee” Grand Sport special edition of the French Bugatti Veyron was unveiled at the Qatar Motor Show. Boasting a top speed of 407 km/h and 350 km/h with its roof up or down respectively, the Veyron stakes its claim to a hefty price tag of $1.58 million EUR (approx. $2.06 million USD) compared to $1.4 million EUR (approx. $1.82 million USD) for the standard version. Limited to a manufacturing run of only 150 units, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport is not only a sight for sore eyes but likely to become a coveted automobile of car collectors due to its limited status.

Jordan brand officially announces the visuals and release date for the latest rendition of the Jordan Spizike. Featuring the customary cement/elephant print on the toebox and reverse heel, the pair emboldens its understated Neutral Grey base with strong hits of Varsity Maize, Laser Blue and Varsity Red throughout. Retailing for $175 USD the Jordan Spizike “Bordeaux” will release February 4th.

BMW announced their ConnectedDrive Connect (CDC) semi-autonomous driving system, and has just released a new video of it in action. It uses four types of sensors, radar, cameras, laser scanners and ultrasound distance sensors, to stay aware of the car’s surroundings. Check out the video.
“However, when the car senses it is behind a slowpoke, it looks for an open lane where it can safely merge at speeds up to 130 km/h (81 mph). If an opening is found, the system will steer the vehicle into that lane, pass the slower vehicle and return to its original lane.
As Dr. Nico Kaempchen explains, “Our main challenge was to develop algorithms that can handle entirely new situations. In principal, the system works on all freeways that we have mapped out beforehand with [a] centimeter accuracy.” He goes on to say CDC ensures the car “adheres to all traffic laws” and sticks to the speed limit.”
